I've never greased my front end. I've always heard of people having a greasy mess blowing out on them going down the highway after greasing the front end. Guess I'll start greasing it.

I replaced the fittings twice ,one with more angle than the other. Tested the original. All 3 are okay, took it to a service rep to look into it, he couldn't get anymre grease in it either! Which makes me think that 1, the grease is so hard in the neck it wont let any through. If that is the case, the bike being a police model with 50,000 says a lot about the slack of HD service dept!!!
Or #2/ perhaps the bearings was replaced by sealed bearins.

I never had this problem with any of 3 other HDs I purchased.

I heard that the Harley grease makes a real mess. I am going with a high temp synthetic like the Red Line grease. Anyone ever use that?

I'd remove the grease fitting and bend a pipe cleaner or piece of wire, work it into the steering neck and see what you come out with. If the grease has hardened, you may have to remove the top triple clamp and clean out the neck. I use NAPA high temp (disc brake) bearing grease. It's soft enough to pump through the bearings but doesn't drop out when it gets hot. The OEM Harley grease would be OK to hand pack bearings but it looks too soft to fill the steering neck with. I doubt that someone would go through the trouble of installing sealed bearings but they may have pumped some too-thick grease into the neck. Good luck with it.

I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Heat doesn't soften it up so you can go nuts with it, fill the neck up, wipe off the excess and go....
