The 09 EGS is a great bike, just look at my sig pic!...I've only had minor issues that were covered under warranty, rear brake light switch, front wheel bearings and thats it nothing else has gone wrong with it and I have 35000+ on it. I did do a 103ci upgrade to the engine and had the heads ported/polished by Big Boyz Heads, Cobra Powerport Header, V&H Twin Slash Monster Rounds, SE204 Cams, Rev-Perf Precision EMS Auto Tuner, changed all the cast engine/tranny cover from cast to chrome, but thats only because I wanted to and it wasn't necessary because the 96ci ran good. With an EGS it's a good starting point to do any customization that you want at an affordable price.

Try to get any service records that you can, and a dealer should be able to tell you if the bike has had warranty work done to it, ride it and listen for any kind of odd engine/tranny noise, it's normal to hear a whine in the tranny in 1st and 5th gear. If you hear any kind of pinging in the engine under acceleration, beware there might already be damage to the pistons/cylinders/heads....Hope this helps a little bit.

The only other comment I'll add on the compensator is that it is curious that the SE Comp became a stock item on 11+ touring bikes.

Thanks for the replies, I am pretty sure that I'll be buying the bike soon. Pics to be posted soon!

You will have a blank canvas to do with it what you want. Great model IMO to mod as you wish.

Brake light switch replacement on recall;
Fuel tank front mount modification on recall;

OEM compensator can be weak-- check for a 'bang' on startup (your hearing the hammer hitting the anvil hard inside the comp.
Front wheel bearings can crap out early.

I would not let any ogf the above sway my decision on a bke with low mileage at the right price AND you have the lowers to boot. Get a QD tourpak and you have a striped down UC.

Most people say if stage 1 pipes AND air filter fitted then it should be re-mapped. Fewer say no need and the bikes ECM can compensate regardless of what HD wants you to buy (additional tuner or download).

Had an 09 EGC, it was a great bike while I had it. They run kinda hot, but then all the EFI's seem to. Looks to be a decent price, so go for it.

The grey motor kills that bike for me. {if the 09's still had them} I would buy an 09 RK std. Easier to sell/trade in the furture and can upgrade the RK with better results. No matter what you spend on an E/Glide std, it's still an E/Glide std.

You can't go wrong with the EGS. I had a 07 until 2011,when I wanted the new frame/FLTRX

I had a 1996 StandardGlide--loved it. Only sold it to get the 09 when the new frame came out.
It was a great machine and EZ on the wallet. No Heat!
