I, like many got the lowers on my Ultra with the plan of removing them. But I never did. I am now adding speakers to them. I cant imagine running without them.

I use mine all year around, I also put the on my Street Glide and on my Road King. I even like the look.

Ride over 65 mph they are a must.

Regarding all of these heat complaints, what I don't understand, it is a air cooled motor and we are sitting on top of it. What do you expect?

I have lowers on my 12 EGC. Rode in to 105+ heat and I was just as hot in my leathers as I am in 35 deg weather if stopped in town. On the highway is very comfortable no matter the weather. Rode with a buddy that has the 96cuin without lowers, he complained how cold his legs were because of wind. Me, I was almost as comfortable as sitting my my recliner.

Lowers on in the winter off in the summer. With them off in the summer it has not gone to one cylinder mode, even at stop lights.

I pull mine off during the summer not for the motor but for myself. Now that I am moving they are never coming off & getting speakers too.

the lowers may direct more air flow to the engine, im not arguring that, but there's no doubt in my mind that my legs are hotter with the lowers on than with them off.

Now that I know the wind stability benefits of having he lowers on, will be a tough decision what to do next summer.
Leave them on for better ride and swelter
or
take them off and tough it out when the winds are strong, but be somewhat cooler?

I keep the lowers on my bike all year round. I recently had the insides and the deflector part painted to match my bike. Looks allot better.

With lowers and a fork baffle, augmenting the sharknose fairing, I get very little air on me if I stay behind the bodywork.

On the downside........I live in the desert and BAKE with everything on in the summer. So I go back and forth from FLHS (Road King style) to the Tour Glide. I've got it down to about 45 minutes to make the transformation. I also go Tour Glide when going long distance.

Summer and local riding

Last winter and distance setup (it has changed ALOT this year, and is not it full "winter" dress)

Dude, that is freakin cool. Wish that was an option on my 99 ultra classic. You truly have the best of both worlds there.

I live in the desert and leave the lowers on all year. I have an 07 and you know how hot they run. I just haven't had an issue, and if I do I know how to shut the bike down and take a break.
