Mixter, I extended the wireing just using standard wire from Radio Shack.

 

no extension of anything for the 10"... just reroute what could cause problem if needed

 

Just be very sure they are the ones for Batwing bikes and not shark nose. Two totally different bars. I say this because another guy on here did that very thing and posted pictures of his wiring progress and we all had to give him the bad news of him doing all that hard work on bars that wouldn't fit his SG. Even if you already know, I'm trying to second guess you so you'll be absolutely positive. It's worth the second or third look.

 

Also, to answer your post...

If money is not really a deciding factor, I would order the PYO kit for 12" bars. Mine are 10", but with my bike being my daily transportation, the last thing I wanted to do was tear everything down and discover that I was not happy with the rerouting of the wires, or something was more snug than I would feel comfortable with. So the kit is like $175 for our ABS models. This includes everything you need, short of a quart of tranny oil. You'll get the longer brake line that you cut to size and put a banjo on both sides, one to your master and the other to the ABS module. Doing it carefully and you wont get air in the module. New longer clutch cable, new gasket for the clutch cover, and then of course about 12" of extra wires, that you solder into your existing wires. For peace of mind, you really can't beat it. And of course, if resale is something that interests you one day, a new owner could go up another size if they so choose, or if YOU choose to.
