Sup guys,

I have a '99 ultra classic that has that big black piece of plastic that runs over the top of the tank..... all the way down to the seat. Its got the intercom buttons and plug and all that stuff.... Well since I never plan on using that stuff and I think that black piece looks horrible on the top of my tank do you guys know or recommend anything that I might be able to replace it with to get rid of that cheap plastic and make it look nicer?

You could replace the tank console with one from a bike that didn't come with the CB/intercom, like a Classic or EG Standard. IIRC the MoCo makes (or made, anyway) inserts to go in the tank consoles to dress them up. I'm sure you could also find a number of aftermarket replacements; just depends on what you're wanting and how much you have to spend.

 

I agree I have the same bike and I hate the way that looks, I have no plans on ever using the cb and would also like to do something to get rid of that plastic crap.

If you're good at wood working you could make a insert. Do you want to sell your old one, I have a button that is missing the little lens that goes into the switch.

Hum, I was hoping theu just made a cover or something? I dont want to have to pull my whole gas cap and all that stuff off, I just wanna get rid of that F-ugly plastic. :/

 

You can remove that plastic CB controller, and re-use the rest. Then use the plastic CB controller to trace out the pattern on a piece of leather, cut out the leather piece and glue that in place of the plastic piece. You can add spikes, conchos, studs, pouch etc or just stain it and leave it plain.
