Sad and a bit pissed

Either I am starting to see it more as I get a bit older, or the people in this world are getting more and more inconsiderate. It gets harder and harder each day for me to find someone I can truly trust because so many have scratched themselves off that list lately.
Sorry for your damage. Get it fixed and move on.

Its always been, to and extent.....what ever you can get away with is fair. Just look at the amount of hit and runs that envolve people hitting pedestrians, where they leave the scene. You think they would stop for a bike???
With age and wisdom comes caution and doubt. Their are a few good honest folks left, it just becomes easier to see through those that aren't because of experience.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Sorry to hear that happened to you too. People do indeed suck.
I did talk with insurance, and my agent feels that it wouldn't be worth it in the long run and that I would save more just paying out of pocket to fix it. I'm taking the bike in for it's free 1k service/inspection next week, so I'll talk to the guys there and see what they recommend. Hopefully I can buff a decent amount out and use some touch up paint to cover the bare fiberglass. That would hold me over for a while until I could get the money together for extended bags or something.
Unfortunately, her place doesn't have a security camera. Her place is in a small building, only about 6 units total. Each unit has a covered parking spot, and then there's space before the sidewalk for one other car behind the covered parking space. It's pretty big and generous considering it's proximity to downtown. I always park behind her car and have never had problems before; most other residents only have one car, so it's generally wide open with plenty of room for maneuvering. One of the other residents was having a party to watch the debate (which I guess is a thing people do) that night and there were other cars parked in the area that were probably guests. I'm sure someone left the party who had a little too much to drink and possibly clipped my bike. I plan on writing up a little note explaining the situation and taping it to the doors of the other residents. Probably won't help, but it won't hurt.
After sleeping on it, I've realized that it's not the damage to the bike that pisses me off, but the lack of responsibility taken by the other person. The bike is fine, still looks awesome and rides like a dream, lots of good times ahead with it. I'm disgusted by the other party though. To just walk away from damage you've caused to someone else's property, without even an apology is awful. Maybe they didn't notice it happen, but I find that hard to believe (the bike has the motion sensor siren on it). It's this sort of behavior, the death of common decency, that has me slowly losing faith in the good nature of other people. Then again, it makes me appreciate the honest folks I do know. Like I said before, I hope karma gets them back tenfold.
Maybe I'll throw some bag guards on. Would cover up most of the area's I'd have to touch up and protect them in the future. Always liked the look of those on the Kings anyway. Cheaper than new bags too.
Yeah, that was me.
Luckily most of mine buffed out. You have a brand new bike, take it to a body shop and get it done properly or you'll be pissed forever. Call your insurance co just to make them aware in case the damage is over your deductible.
People suck and will try to get away with all kinds of ****.

It should not affect your insurance premium. It is a not at fault collision claim.

All you would be out in any instance like this is your deductible. Nothing more. Like i said it is a not at fault claim. No increase in premiums. Sounds like its time to find another insurance agent.
