I bet its a gasket for the oil cooler. Mine was replaced under warranty, apparently its not uncommon according to a dealer in Mankato, MN. Once fixed, no issues.

Erm, kind of.

The Hermatite that my fellow UK homie references is a silicon sealer for spreading in gaskets so it isn't that great on threads.

I'd go with the Green Loctite 290 for this as it wicks through the threads and will also fill slightly porous areas.

Good application chart here http://www.henkelna.com/us/content_d...king_Guide.pdf

The bike is a 2012 with the stock oil cooler. The 1000 mile service was done....the pic is from the front where the oil filter meets the oild cooler. I've searched and read that it could be the gasket, the bolt that holds the adapter plate....either way, a bike that had the 1k servoce should not have any leaks! I have to call the dealer today....I hope its a simple fix.

Because of the position of the oil filter, oil is going to get on the frame, and in-between during a filter change.

I'd degrease it (careful what you use) and wash the whole area. You could be seeing oil that was in areas you couldn't simply wipe. Heat the bike by riding it and the oil will thin and seep onto other areas.

Hope it's that simple.
