I currently ride a 12 Superglide. About 4100 miles. I ride mainly solo. I'm 49 and getting to point where I think my "Hotrod" days are over and go to something just for comfort. I know I'm going to ride. 180 lbs and considering weight. I think I've narrowed it to a Street Glide or a Road King. Any opinions or thoughts I'll considerate. Also gives me bargaining tools. Thanks all.

If I was riding mainly solo I would have a RK. Just my personal opinion.

I'm biased, but I would say Street Glide.

I know riders that have ridden most of the US and Canada on Dynas.

You have a great bike now. Why take a big hit on trading? Give it a couple more season's.

I have a 10 Super Glide and I'm only 72.

Go to the dealership and look at them both real hard a couple of times.
See which one speaks to you.
My bet is you will dream of the 'King.
Yes, I am biased...

I like the Road king because you have both the clean front ed or if you want a detachable fairing or windshield so you can make it a convertible and have options as far as that goes.

There both great bikes.

You probably should drive them both and look at the bars set ups and the other options available on the various models.

I know with the Road Kings there are several to choose from, police models, cvo's classics, customs, etc..

I have a bad back and need a good comfortable ride so I went with an 04 Road King Custom and loved it, I now have an 07 police I cant wait to rack up some miles on.
Good luck either way.
IF you dont mind the fairing on full time the street glide is a great bike too, lots of them out there.

Either bike would be a great choice. I love the dyna's as well but either of those bikes will be great for around town or crossing the country. Keep in mind, you are still a youngster (imo) and there are some fast *** baggers out there. You can hop up those motors the way you like and have the best of both worlds. Good luck with your choice, you won't have any regrets, I promise you that!

I had a 2010 Street Glide and now I have a 2012 Road King (FLHR). Matter of fact, this is my 3rd Road King. Either motorcycle is great for riding 1-up. I would choose the Road King over the Street Glide for 2-up due to the suspension and the seat is more comfortable for the passenger (I'm talking stock seats).

You can put all kinds of money into either motorcycle to get it just the way you like it (and many of us do just that), but the real question is this: what style of motorcycle do you want?

Street Glide - hot rod bagger, stripped down, low in the rear end, fairing that provides gauges and music, cool lookin' ride.

Road King (FLHR) - Classic looking motorcycle designed to look like a 1965 Electra Glide. Very versatile. Windshield off for town cruisin', windshield on for long distances, handle bar mods cheaper due to no fairing, can add music if you want.

Road King (FLHRC) Even more of a classic looking motorcycle. Designed to look like a 1950's bike. Similar to FLHR, but comes with standard with laced wheels, wide white wall tires, cruise control ABS brakes and security (you can get those things on an FLHR, but at additional cost).

So go rent them to see which one fits you best. Find out how you feel when you throw your leg over one, then the other. Think about what you want to see everyday when you walk into your garage. Think about what you want to be seen on (yes, there is ego in this too).

So, what do you want, a hot rod bagger or a classic lookin' motorcycle? Your choice.

You didn't say how tall you are. IMO the road king sat quit a bit higher. I'm 5'9" and the SG lowered 1" is good for me. The road king would've need some additional help for my short legs. I went with a 2012 SG. My first and only Harley and I think it's the best one out there. Music!

You need to put a couple hundred miles on both to decide. Rent or borrow each before buying, decide based on what fits you.
