Default Here's a stupid handle grip question

Does anyone know if there are different grip lengths for FBW grips? I have had a gap in my controls bolting up the the 1.5" bars. It finally bugged me enough to email the manufacturer and they basically told me to cut the bars, or get a new set of grips with a deeper fit. Just me, but...... Anyway, just asking and getting some info before I call them back.

Are they Avon grips? I ordered some Avons and they had a gap. I called them directly and found out some from a year or so ago were short based on the specs Drag had given them. I ordered a new set directly from Avon and they fit perfect with no gap.

They are actually stock grips. And the gap is more than a half inch. I've emailed all of the big grip manufacturers and they are all replying with the same stock grip lengths. Looks like the bars were cut bad.

I had about a 1/4" gap whn I tried to install my Ness Deep Cut grips on my PYO Monkey bars. I switched to PM grips and they fit perfectly. It's how they are cut on the inside. If you have Throttle by Wire it's a PIA to notch the bars correctly after you cut them.

That's why I'm trying to get Carlini to correct their mistake. When I emailed them the pictures, they told me to just cut them down to fit. When I asked them about the notching for the FBW, he told me to re-cut the notch too. Like its no big deal. Or get deeper cut grips.

I've emailed all the major grip manufactures and they are all replying that they make their grips to the same specs as the stock Harley measurements.

That's what Ness and Avon say as well but they tend to leave a gap on some bars.

So in that case, my gap increases.

By the way, nice avatar
