Hey guys been out of the biking crowd for a few years since I had a couple of kids. I bought my my bike new in 08' did a few mods, then parked it since with an occasional ride here or there.
Well...long story short the HD bug has bitten me again! I pulled out the bike washed it off and started riding it here and there again (only 1200 miles on her now LOL). I plan on doing the rest of my mods now and promise to ride it more often....Here is the first of the (new) mods, Wild1 beach bars to Wild1 16" ape hangers. Love the feel but the jury is still out on total comfort? I'm 5'10" and the new 16" apes grips are about 3-4 inches higher than my shoulders....
Like the new look! Give it a few weeks. 3-4" over your shoulders might be a bit of a challenge on long rides or slow speed manuevering. Roll the bars forward/back to find the sweet spot. SJ Ron
Thanks guys, the reason I didn't I like the beach bars was because of my posture and feel? Looks, I like the beach bars all day long but comfort is what I am going for.
I plan on rolling the bars back towards me a little this week and play with it a little...
It will take a few rides to feel the true comfort of the apes. Like said already you can roll the a little to find your spot. I love mine, no more pains. Can ride alot longer. Sweet look.
Love the new look, but I'm partial to apes. For me it was a (successful) comfort mod, and most people seem to get improved comfort from apes, but everyone's different. I'm 5-10 and I went with 14s, couldnt be happier.
Apes look good. In the pic with the beach bars, the bike is obviously wet. At first glance I thought the blue color was a metal flake paint....now that would look sweet!!
I have never taken a long ride on a bike with apes, so I do not have an opinion on the comfort they provide. I like the look of the beach bars though. Still your bike looks nice either way.
I had beach bars on my RKC. When I got my EG Ultra I chose to go with the LA Choppers Prime Apes 13's. It was a welcome change. After almost a year, I wish they made them in 16s, but I stil love them.
