Well guys I have been using Bel Ray all summer and never had the foaming issue until now.
I still think it has more to do with the cooler weather as the oil thickens as it cools and then when the gears start moving this thicker oil the air has a harder time escaping from the thicker oil.

If it is foaming out the top, get it a rabies shot.

Foam in the transmission and primary are of no concern if it is not foamy after setting a few hours. However if you have just ran it is going to look like foam. After all it's like an egg beater in there. Unlike an engine it has no oil pump so it's not a problem.

Any other ideas?
I am thinking it is more due to the colder weather.
High of 50 here today.
Here is another idea.
It could be that you put in motor oil instead of gear oil in the transmission.
Gear oils usually have an additive in them that makes the oil "climb" the spinning gears instead of just frothing and whipping up in the case.

I'm going to say it's the colder outside temperature/humidity now.

completely normal, don't worry about it. A little foam on the surface is as good as it gets. The anti- foaming agents limit it to this. Otherwise you would have a "I Love Lucy" event foaming out the top like an overloaded washing machine!

Even with moisture in the oil,oil shouldn't foam. They add additives to prevent this issue. That junk Lucas oil stabilizer causes oil foaming as well.
Op. If it's foaming I suggest draining it and using red line shockproof. Foamed oil doesn't really protect anything and will accelerate wear.
Amsoil severe gear is also good as well as royal purple. Drain the bel ray. It's your bike,do what you like however oil foaming is a sure fire way to servicing the tranny early.
And the oil foams because of how the gears mesh. Air is squishes in with the oil in between the gears and the oil doesn't effectively do it's job. If it's foaming it's not doing it's job.
+1 on the Redline shock proof.

Well I drained the tranny and installed Spectro platinum 6 speed gear oil.
It is a bit thinner than the Bel ray and should work well in the colder weather.

My indy used the Spectro HD platinum 6 speed oil when he installed my new gearset and case. 300 miles so far and I love it. He also put the Spectro HD primary oil in the primary and it seems great as well. I'll probably use Spectro from now on. Hope it works out for you!

First time using that lubricant in there? If not did you notice it before? I used to use Amzoil and it showed foam on the dipstick all the time.
