I'm thinking about getting a painted inner fairing for my Street Glide.I think I know the answer, but just how much of a pain in the butt is it to do that job? Any hints to make it easier of pitfalls to watch out for. BTW, my bike is Merlo Sunglo if someones got one for sale.

It's real simple to swap. There are youtubes showing how to disconnect the outer and inner fairings. While you're at it, you can modify your front speakers or add a stereo amp.
watch the classifieds here ... I got a inner fairing for my SG for $120 ... painted it myself and installed too! If a old fart like me can do it ... anyone can! It's more a PIA than anything lol
Take your time, label everything and snap some pics as you go....just in case you need something to refer back to. The first time was a little intimidating, but I've done 4 or 5 now and it's cake at this point.
Make it a winter thing have yours painted dont buy one there are good painters out there that can do a grate job go to your local harley dealer ask them how they send or take there things to locally mine was only $180.00 to paint he done a grate job flame blue pearl
If you take your time you could probably rough it up and rattle-can it to look just fine. I may try that one of these days. Can always punt and buy one if it looks crappy.
