OMG! I hate it when that happens!

I spent several grueling days on the Blue Ridge Parkway having to be push-started by my son-in-law who happens to be a Goldwing rider. My solenoid was bad. For two years I had to listen to the lingering comments, but I pushed back with how I got a GW rider to push me so I could save my starter. On a recent 400 mile trip, my son-in-law had a bad battery and I ended up pushing him...often. Hummm? Was his battery realy bad or was he trying save his starter?

Oh good, yet another "bash the Goldwing" topic. The original poster hasn't even rode one, jeeeesh. All bikes can and probably will have mechanical issues. My FLHR has had a zillion problems but I'm not on the GL1800 forums saying how great they are and Harleys rattle apart.
In 1997 I sold my Yamaha swearing I would not own another bike until I could afford a Harley (doesn't mean I did not RIDE any other bikes). It took me 13 years, with military moves and what have you, before I ever got another bike (an '09 FXDL). You want to ride a Honda, more power to you. I kept my promise to myself and am riding a Harley. I really don't care what other people think or what they ride. I mentioned at least once in this thread that I just hating that I fed the Harley stereotype and was commenting about what the Honda riders said. I agree all bikes will have mechanical issues. That was my point. If you want to take that as me slamming Hondas then more power to you. Doesn't really matter to me. I don't like how they look, pure and simple. I will still ride with them next time we arrange a trip and I will still go out and ride my imperfect piece of performance art, my Street Glide. I am happy to admit that my FLHX has NOT had a zillion problems, and I don't think my experience is really unique. The only one I was commenting on was in my doing after my wife had a wreck on my old, now her FXDL.
