Default low oil pressure

Normally my 2008 ultra at idle has 10 psi oil pressure, when at 2500 rpm it had 28 to 34 psi. Today I had at most 10 at 2500 and 0-5 at idle and the oil light comes on at idle. Any clues to what might be causing this issue?

I truly wonder the accurace of these factory electric gauges......

I would say hook up a mechanical gauge before you get too scared..than go from there

Im running the same oil since first oil change. 20w50 royal purple synthetic. i hooked up a gage yesterday before i went home from work and i had 25 psi at start up. But what bothers me is the light coming on and now this morning when i got to work i put it on the stand and the pressure went from 10 to 0 quick. and there was a little rattle in the top end. please help if you know what i can do.

Running 4-5 psi at idle wouldn't necessarily worry me...mine does that all the time on hot days...unless the oil pressure warning light came on. I've had 2 separate techs tell me don't worry until then. If it were me I would take it to your dealership or local indy, whomever you use, and let them check it sooner rather than later. Lack of oil pressure, obviously, is not something to mess with.

Given when you put it on the side stand it dropped, sounds like low level.
Not sure where the pickup is for the pump, in the sump, but your description sure sounds like it is low.

If the guage is reading low and the light is coming on to me that is a secondary indication there probably is something not right. How many miles on the bike?

I would stop running the motor till you find out the scoop. I had some concerns on my 09 S/G a couple months ago. Oil pressure was low at idle. 5 psi and 30psi at say 2,000 rpm,s. They said that was normal. They did say if the light ever came on to shut it down fast. I would think like car if it doesn't have pressure it won't run but that could be wrong.
