OK, I think the SG looks cooler.
The RKC is more comfortable in just about every way except the seat.
The SG buffet is painful.
The radio is nice and the fairing keeps my hands warm in the winter.
The RK handles better at parking lot speeds.
The RK seat is horrible, the SG seat is tolerable.
Both bikes attract a lot of attention in parking lots but the RK seems to attract more women while the SG attracts more men. Can't explain why.
RK is faster.
Gauges are easier to read on the SG.
RK is easier to fill up with gas because the inlet is at the top of the tank when filling it up.

I absolutly love both bikes and wish my wife would let me own both, but when push comes to shove, I like the SG more because of its clean progressive look.

So yes, when it comes down to it, the SG edges out the RK mainly because of looks.

Still, I sure miss the ability to take off the windshield.

If something ever happened to my bike, I'd probably replace it with a glide. Don't get me wrong, I love my bike, but I think I'd go fairing next time.

 

I chose RKC because I didn't want/need the fairing or radio....plus the RKC looks better

 

I chose the RK Std. for my first Harley since I have another bike with a fairing, heated seats, grips, radio, GPS, yada, yada, yada. I much prefer the traditional looks and ride without the fairing on the Harley's. Longer touring trips with wife will be on the "other" bike, but everyday riding will be on RK.

I need to add

RKC leather bags hold 25 percent more and are easier to clean.
RKC leather bags don't have locks, SG bags do.
RKC spokes take longer and are harder to clean than SG wheels.
SG Wheels are more susceptible to brake dust corrosion than RKC chrome wheels.

RKC without hesitation as I absolutely cannot stand the looks of a fairing, OR anything but a 16" up front with an FL front end.

Maybe I might like a SG if they built 'em the way they did in the 70's, where the fairing could be removed since it wasn't an integral part of the bike. You can always add a fairing to a RKC, but with the SG, you're stuck with it.

As far as a radio on a bike--about as necessary as birth control on a nun.

I gotta say, I'm leaning towards the RKC right now. Plus it's a little cheaper.

I have had both. I have a 07 Road King Classic I bought a 2011 Street Glide because I thought I wanted a radio and fairing. I sold it after less than 5000 miles. I hated the buffeting, never really liked the radio and the ride was horrible.

I sold the Street glide and just turned my 07 RKC into a standard, bought hard bags, got rid of the spoke wheels and put on a Street Sweeper front fender and Street Glide taillights. I Love the ability to quickly change windshields from no windshield, to a low windshield or a high one for winter. I also put on Ohlins shocks and now my Road King rides like a dream. Would never own another fairing bike. The lighter front end of the Road king also handles better at speed and in parking lot maneuvers. There is a reason why most police departments use Road Kings instead of fairing bikes.
