Those of you running Sony Radios is it necessary to run an amp to power your speakers?

No. Even though I run an amp now, I had the stereo pushing the stockers first and it made a big improvement over the HK. However the amp made it that much better

I put in the Sony head unit when I replaced my dead HK unit, and put in some Hogtunes speakers, all from Biketronics.

WOW, what a huge difference, even w/o an amp!

Before I added the amp I ran my Sony MS60 with Polk db691 6X9 speakers.

I had no problem hearing the radio at 75-80 mph.

The amp just made it clearer and more full sounding, and louder if needed.
