Tuner for TC-88 Carbed FLHTC

I purchased a Screamin Eagle High Performance Ingnition module for my last carb bike. It changed timing and added max RPM. As for the Mikuni, It is a good option as it is CV which maintains a constant AFR after you get it tuned for your bike. I went the S&S Super route, I like the Super E for under 100" and it is really simple. All you need is a flat screwdriver and you can rebuild it. I think the Super E is 42mm too and also needs tuned to your bike

The stock 40 mm CV carb can easy support a motor up to 100 HP.
The CV is self adjusting for changes in air density like due to altitude- this may not much affect a rider in FLA...but if you ever leave the State is might be handy, rather than fiddling with jets at the roadside ( conventional fixed venturi carbs incl. Mikuni and S&S need to be leaned out if you go up a few thousand feet)
Good info on tuning and modding the CV carb can be found at the nightrider.com website under bike tech and cv carb.
The tuning and modding tips there have been in general use since 1990 with good results and an out-of-pocket of about $25.
do not bother with tuning kits from dynojet, yost, drag or others- esp with a plastic slide. they are junk.
the screaming eagle ignition module usually has a steeper advance curve- which is not always the best choice for a heavy weight bike, the stock may be just fine.
The S/E will raise the rev limit, if you find you are hitting the rev limit more than once a year- most don't.
if wanting an ignition system I would look at the Crane HI4TC

I used the evo version is it was/is awesome
with a drilled slide, I might guess that a 45 low speed jet and a 180 main with the sportster needle ( faster taper) might be close for your bike

I've been over Alpine and Vosge Mountain passes with my S&S carb and had no problems. As for tuning your bike, there is a good reason to change the ignition module. Stock timing is set to help the engine meet noise and emissions regulations and does not provide optimum performance. I have used a Crane module in the past with great results.
