Default 2009 Street Glide - 96 ci to a 103 or 107 questions.

I have a 2009 Street Glide and I am thinking about installing a Screamin Eagle 103 or a Fuel Moto 107 kit. I am concerned with the reliability. I do not want to compromise the reliability of the bike for more power. Has anyone had any overheating problems with either kit? How many miles have you ridden since the upgrade? Any other problems that I should be concerned with?

Thank you.

I have the SE 103 in my 09, with 10k trouble free miles. No experience with Moto but they have very good reviews.

I did the SE 103 Stage IV on my 2009.................and it was hot hot hot. I mean heat wise, uncomfortable.
It also lasted 18,000 miles before it gave out and I don't ride hard.

Thank you for all your replies.

Do I need to be concerned with compression releases? Im looking at going with the Andrews 48 or the woods 555 cams.

I have the FM107 kit in my 2010 Ultra with the TW-555 cams. No problems for 6000 miles. Runs like a dream and gets 42 mpg with 106 hp and 121 ft-lbs. Its a great kit. If you don't get one, you're missing out.

FM is a great business and their customer service is awesome.

Good luck.

My '09 was HOT before the 103 change and is HOT after? Really no difference. The Andrews 48h is made for a stock 96 not a 103. Yes on compression releases! Also go with 10.5 pistons/compression if ya are going for much cam. Reliability really doesn't become an issue til ya get into the 100+hp area. Neither the 103 or 107 have reliability problems I've heard about.

The 107 is the new 103. With the right set up and tune it is as reliable as the stock 96. It should run cooler. Crank runout and clutch slippage might become an issue. GMR Performance has the 107 dialed in.
