6.5" Memphis Audio MClass component. It is about 2.6" deep. The MM6501 woofer has that smaller diameter type magnet, so that might help with fitment...

 

Holy cow!!!! But what, no subwoofer? JK. And Polk speakers must have come a long way in 15 years. I used to blow them out pretty regularly when I was an audio junkie with Phoenix Gold amps and JL Audio subs.

 

If you already have 6.5" in there, I don't think you will have a problem with the polk's. They are pretty shallow due to the smaller magnet and the composite basket. The Polk MM6501 is actually a 6.75" speaker but uses the same cutout hole size and bolt pattern as most 6.5 speakers.

 

The only older Polks I ever used were the older MOMO's.
These Polk MM series boast some pretty impressive specs and the last set of Polk MM651's were some loud and clear sounding speakers even off the head unit only.
But the main reason for choosing the Polk's is, they are top of the heap when it comes to being Marine rated. The last set I had on a bike, I direct sprayed them with the water hose every wash and they never missed a beat or showed any signs of corrosion.

 

Christmas came a little early
I'm going to try a little experiment. I bought a set of Boston Acoustics SPZ-60 speakers. I am going to replace polks in the upper fairing with the SPZ's.
Then I will take the Polk speakers and mount them in the rear speaker pods, tie them in with the polks in the lower fairing VIA Series/parallel to the two remaining channels on the PDX-F6 Amp.

This should be interesting. I think these will blow the polks out of the water and by tieing all 4 polks together and running 300 watts to them, I am thinking I will be able to push them to the max capability of the Amp and have distortion free sound no matter what I play and no matter how loud I play it!

 

Nice .... I debated between the Polk MM6501's and the Focal VB 165's. I ended up buying the Focal's but haven't swapped them out yet. Probably when I get back from Arkansas next week (BB&BBQ Rally). I'm anxious to see how the Focals perform ...

I don't have one yet. Those damn crossovers are so damn big there is nowhere to stuff them under the fairing. I am going to have to pull the tank again this weekend and run more wiring and put the x-overs in the tour pack.
