Default Electra glide ultra versus Street glide

Thinking hard about a new bike.
Spend an hour at the local HD shop.
The bike will be used mostly driving a hour each way to and from work down the FM roads.
My wife will never ride on it with me.
Not knowing much about them, it seems the extra trunk costs $7000.00
As the street glide is that much cheaper and the back seat and trunk seem to be the o ly big differences
.
What am I missing?

I don't want to buy the cheaper bike then later wish I had bought the more expensive one but at the same time don't want to waste money either.
There is nothing really wrong with my 2003 RK I just have a urge for something new
Thanks
Buff

Street glide you are paying for cosmetics.

Rear fender extension/saddlebag gap filler with tri-bar running light
bullet turn signals
chrome dash
clean fenders
swept floorboards
lowered rear end (1" shorter rear shocks)
SG wheels with 18" front wheel
silver/white gauges with chrome trim rings.
solid paint with no pinstripes
passenger pegs (instead of floorboards) with chrome mounts.
faring mounted mirrors
very short windshield.
no rear crash bar or saddlebag rails
color matched saddlebag latches
low profile seat

Ultra offers:

fairing lowers
Trunk
Trunk brake lights
CB
intercom
passenger floorboards
passing lamps
touring seat
fairing wind deflectors
rear crash guards
bag rails around saddlebags
fender trim
luggage liners
rear speakers
cruise control standard (option on SG)
full length shocks (13")
17" front wheel
tourpak liner
full height windshield.

The Electraglide CLASSIC is the same as the ultra, MINUS:

rear speakers
fairing lowers
CB
Intercom
fairing deflectors
cruise control (optional)
different paint/pinstripe layout
trunk liner
luggage liners
tourpak brake lights

The classic is the same price as the SG. Its the best functional VALUE if you don't care about the cosmetics of the SG, and the extra bells and whistles of the Ultra or Limited.

Then there is the Limited. Which adds the following to the Ultra:

Heated grips
Upgraded gauges with chrome trim
Abs and security is standard (optional on the other models)
Tour pak luggage rack
has the rear crash bars, but not the saddlebag rails or front fender bumper
different paint/pinstripe layout
contrast chrome version of the wheels (chrome where the Ultra and Classic have polished aluminum)
power outlet in tourpak

Prior to 2011, the Limited had the 103 motor, which is now stock on all bikes.

and for my FLHTC I add fairing lowers, and I detach the tourpak, add SG pass pegs and seat and 12" SG shocks..

looks like this:

When i tour the tour pak goes on, 13" shocks and the big cushy seat

Flyingace - you are a wealth of knowledge. I thought I knew the Electra Glides and the Street Glide, but you are a walking H-D brochure. Actually better than a brochure, because H-D doesn't list all that info like you did.

Thanks.

I think the ultra is more flexible because you can set it up for solo riding by sliding the tour pack forward or remove it entirely, the lowers come off etc. I went with the ultra because every bike I had previously I dumped a ton of money into it to basically give me what the ultra offers stock. Don't get me wrong the street glide is an excellent bike and I love the solid paint without the pin stripe but I would have eventually bought the tour pack and lowers yada yada...

Depends on which time I re-edited it. You talking about the wheels on the Limited?
