Default 17 vs 18 rear tire

I have a 2012 street glide and am getting ready to purchase new wheels. Wondering what affect an 18" wheel will have??

about a 1/2 inch height in the rear.. also factor in the size of your front wheel... I put a 17 in the rear because I was replacing the stock 17 with a Mammoth 21 inch.

depends on what year of bike. if you have a 09 or newer you can slap a 200 rear underneath it with a 17 instead of the stock 180 with a 18. I got a 17" rear wheel with the 200 and I like it.

I'll help out the OP with a question. If the stock 18 is a 180, why does Avon have it in 150/70-18? I noticed Hogpro mention that in another thread I saw.

Thanks for the input. I think I like the idea of running a 200 on the rear. I am planning on running a 21 on the front as well and plan on lowering the front to make up for that.

The 150/70-18 is for bike 2008 & earlier.

The 150 tire is for an 18x4.25 for up to 2007 bikes. An 18x5.5 would be for 2009 and newer bikes. The 09 and newer bikes come with a 180 rear tire but you can squeeze a 200 tire on the rim. We will not mount a 200 tire on the 18x5.5 as we had a few customers who experienced a high speed wobble with the 18x5.5 combo and a 200 tire. So if you want a 200 tire we recommend the 17x6.25 which will also stretch the tire out a little bit more and give you a bigger contact patch with the rear wheel.

I'm running a 17x200 with a 21 front and love it.
