Default Rear Wheel adjustment 2009 & Newer Frame

I have a 2010 RKC and I am having problems adjusting the rear wheeel after a tire replacement. I have followed the instructions in the maintenance manual and I am about ready to give up.

Here's the problem, I am getting a chirping noise when I let the clutch out or hit the throttle. I don't know what is binding. Anyone have a clue?

I really hate the new non-positive adjustors. The Deuce was so much easier, just used a calipers to measure the distance on each side and make them the same and I was golden. These new cam type adjusters don't stay tight against the adjusting dimple, they suck!

Thanks for any imput.

Steve.

First, did you mark the cam with a sharpie prior to the wheel change? It's pretty easy to get it real close to where it was by doing that. Next, do the twist method and go with 45 degree twist and that should be pretty spot on to the 10lb test

Many others are having similar trouble. Most finally use a wrench on each side, one to hold the axle/cam in position and the other to tighten the cone nut. Also starting in '11, I believe, the manual no longer says to set the belt tension, tighten the cone nut, then loosen and tighten again. It just says to tighten the cone nut enough to hold the cam from moving once the adjustment is made, then tighten the cone nut to spec ONCE and you're done. Makes it slightly less prone to slip, and this is OK for previous years.
