I mounted my Garmin 1450LMT to my bars using a RamMount and I wired a direct USB plug that also mounted to my bars. It is dark outside, but I will get pics in the morning and post them.

This is the plug I used, and I wired it to the battery with a fuse and ran the wiring under the seat and tank.

I have a black cigarette lighter style power plug with a spring loaded cap (I think Bell makes it, $17 or so from AutoZone), black zip-tied neatly to the right down-frame of the bike - it all but disappears on the black frame.

I have it wired so it's powered on with the lights. For a mount, I have a nice chrome Tech Mount that even looks nice just sitting there empty.

To fasten, I use velcro on the tech mount and the Garmin, and run/secure the power cable from the Garmin along the highway bars and to the outlet. The velcro also helps cushion the Garmin from the vibrations I think, since it is not hard surface to hard surface. I've been running this same setup on my bikes for years through all kinds of weather, week long trips and haven't had one issue.

When not needed, I remove the Garmin and cable, leave the nice looking Tech Mount on the handle bars, the plug on the frame, and return the Garmin for use in my truck.

Here is another option for mounting GPS - power kits can be added at the same time! http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/motorcycle-gps-mounts/ (also a GPS Mount tips page here that many people find helpful: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/gpsguide.html)

When I had my garmin I used this.
http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/424...CCESSORY-MOUNT

Worked great ran the USB cord to my 12v port in the fairing.

Since I now have the garmin app on my phone I use this...With the mounting plate update

My Sirius radio now occupies my fuel door mount.

This is just another idea to think about this could be used on the center bolt for a RK windshield or the Console Nut. I found this on EBay under Garmin Mounts USA made in 1/4 or 5/16.
