Makes no sense to me either Bob. You sacrafice ride quality in most cases and make the bike harder to re-sell as the next guy probably won't like the mod.

The rear tire size I run is only rated for 760lbs & as far as I know only one company makes it in a 6ply (Kenda, used to be Yokohama). I ride mostly one up, and don't carry alot of stuff, have about 5000 Mi. on it & no unusual wear. I would not put one on a bike that gets heavily loaded.

I run 430's with heavy duty springs in back, and their drop in kit in front. The ride is firm, I weigh 220lbs. Handles a **** ton better than stock, especially under braking.

How did you get 1.5 in the front cause I am looking at progressives front end kit and they are saying 1. to 2.0 only? I would like to go 1.5.

And, my king rides way better than my 07 flstf did. Yup, MoCo still putting out WWII suspension on bikes.....
Gotta love it.
If the MoCo could actually put out a great suspension on their bikes, they would be known for more than being old school.
What is the word...... Inovation, yeah that's the ticket !

The kit comes with pvc spacers that you cut to length, and put in on top of the springs. You can get any height you like between full up, to a little below 2".

Need someone's information on progressive rear shocks. I am thinking on getting a pair of 440s with the heavy duty spring. I am worried that the heavy duty may ride to stiff but am worried on bottoming out if I go the other way

Progressives tech guy got me dialed in, I'd give them a call if that's what you decide to go with.

RayBan,

Thanks for shedding some light on a question that probably plagues every Road King Custom owner out there.....what to do with the horrid stock suspension. Safe riding brother!
