+1 0n the character, Mine is no show bike and at 1st I was pissed but then I got another scratch and it matches. I put on a new a/c cover for my K&N filter and scratched the cover with the driver because I didnt take the 2min. to tape it. Almost everyone does some dumbcrap once in a while, Just ride it......

My first chip was from dropping one of my bags. Instant sick gut that lasted for days. Scratched my lid pretty good. So to make my self feel better I bought new badad fender and bag extentions and had it all painted. The other day I pulled in the garage and caught the corner of my front fender on my table lift. Made a small ding and chip. Thru some touch up paint on it and went to bed. Didn't bother me like the very first one did

I was "F@ckn" around trying to install a stealth luggage rack onto my SG - my wife told me to leave it alone as it was dark (and a few beers involved) and I ended up chipping and dinting my rear fender.. that sick gut feeling everyone talks about is SO REAL!!!!
after going to the "Dint Dr" and all that BS i attempted a touch up paint job with moderate results... Then I had a brain explosion and bought a Mustang rear fender bib and it covered the dint perfectly! now its game on again and I feel healthy once more!
They say the 1st is the worst, I too agree - dints and scratches are just "Battle Scars" and as we all know Chicks LOVE scars on Guys! so ride it and enjoy it, the bumps and bruises are now talking points!!! Ride Safe all!!

I remember I had my handlebars laying on a towel on my gas tank while changing lower fork tubes. When I was working to get the fork tube out, I scene the towel laying on the foot peg! I crapped my pants! When I finally got the nerve to look, freaking scratches top of my tank! Big deep ones too. It reminds me every day to be more careful but time heals all wounds.

..rode down to Plymouth Airport in Plymouth MA today for an air show..I drive through the gate and park along the fence where about 10 other bikes were parked...one of the bikes was a 1949 Panhead, in original condition...with all the scratches, dings and dents...it was the one bike EVERYONE wanted...and was looking at....I don't let nicks and chips bother me anymore...like others have said...it adds character..
