One of my riding buds did the same thing. Checked his oil before he left his place and then rode 45 miles to mine. I couldn't believe it, but not a drop of oil on the side of the bike....none. I'm still shaking my head on that one.
Back in the day when brakes were operated by cable I decided to go for a ride after some clean up and maintenance. Going down a hill at 70+ mph I decided to slow down a little. Forgot to hook both front and rear cables up. I never forgot those two items again.
I haven't done that on my bike yet. I have forgot to put the oil cap back on a pickup truck I had back in the 80's. Drove from Dearborn to Lansing and had oil all over the engine compartment. Had to buy a new oil cap to boot.....
The seat was not a problem but you could hear me screaming MOOOOMMEEEEEE for miles. I was on an old Norton so the difference between brakes and no brakes was nominal. It did seem as though the bike went from 70 to 250 mph in well under a second....
