Default New Tour-Pak latch?

Can anyone tell me why the new latches will not work on a chopped tour-pak when the old ones have the same part numbers. These new ones look great, but the box says not for chopped or razor paks and they should have the same lid as the king? I hate to pay 99.00 and find they will not work.

I have the part number 53000252, but I can't make a link to the new latches. They sure look nice!

New latches are a pain in the azz. Need a special rivet gun to install them. The rivet gun is the type that squeezes the pin flat rather than pulling the stud like a conventional rivet gun. Waiting till I take the bike in for service and have the dealer do the install. Hinges are easy enough to install, just need a helper to hold the lid while working on installing them.

Just found out they should work on the Chopped Tour-pak. They also bolt on with no need to rivet them on at the dealer. The only bad part of the whole thing will be drilling the old rivets out, but there are only four of them.

Default Ya BUT

Every one say they may be harder to install....ok can deal with that
Every one say they look great..... ok agree
No one says anything about do they last any longer than the flip and latch versions.
The problem may be that they have not been out long enough to determine how durable they are.
I can put on 4 sets of the old version for the cost of one set of the new.
Any view how long they will last??????
