stage I rip off from steeler

on my 01 EGC a dealer told me $400 for a tuner, plus $700 for a dyno run to tune it.. i already had the aircleaner and mufflers.. i already had the cartridge download in the ecm, but they couldn't tell me what it was for or what it did.. i didnt buy it,figured my bike lasted 10 years with out it..
Where does one get the cartridge for the download? I already have the A/C and exhaust I want to use but was going to have the dealer do the download when I took it in for the 1000 mile maintenance. I was not aware that was something I could do myself. Thanks

The only difficult part I can see in this is the header install...how many of you that have done this have had issues with seating of the header or even issues with the whole stud coming out when removing the original header? Seems like it should be straight forward but things that seem that way often end up not being that easy.
Maybe just some bad experiences I've had in the past with pipes on other bikes

There are definitely "bargains" to be had out there for this UG - just need to look/be patient. Here's my mix:
- LA Choppers xXx breather: $210 (Dennis Kirk sale)
- Bub-7 TD's: $365 (eBay sale)
- Dobeck GEN3 tuner: $175 (military discount)
So for my parts it was $750 + my labor (free = fun working on bike) & ~$20 gaskets/sealers/clamps my upgrade was $770 so you do the math on how much savings there are over "self" vs. "stealer" maint.
