Default Tips for changing ABS front brake on 12 FLHTP

I need to change my front brake line on my 2012 Electra Glide. My bike has ABS. I ordered a +6 upper line and mid line from Magnum shielding. I understand that the line is two pieces and I need to disconnect it from the ABS module. Do I need to remove the tank? Tips, directions, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I have a service manual.

Thanks!

The brake line from your handlebar lever goes to the ABS module, so you need to get to that. I don't have an ABS bike, but if your bike is undisturbed from new you will probably find the stock line is strapped or clipped out of sight under the tank. I can't think there is any other way of doing that job. Best to start by taking the tank off than find you have to later!

Also if you do have ABS you need to take bike to the dealer to bleed the line. as you can't bleed the traditional way. According to the manual.

I thought just the ABS won't work, but you could still bleed them? How do you get the bike to the dealer without front brakes? Sounds like a crash waiting to happen.

Sounds like a good time to buy a factory workshop manual!

I just put a +6 brake line on my 12 SG with ABS and did traditional bleeding and everything is working fine, no ABS light etc. You do have to remove the tank and it is not that hard since there is no crossover line on the 6 gallon tank.

Yes you do have to remove tank. No you do not have to take to dealer to have them bleed the new line. Put new line on and before connecting to module fill new line with fluid through reservoir, after line is connected bleed as usual. Very little air to bleed out. Have done a few bikes this way with good results.
