Default Hertz 6x9s in cycle sounds lids

Been reading though the forums and trying to figure out what I need to do to get Hertz Hi Power 6x9s to fit right in my lids. I just ordered them today so I got some time to prep. Anybody have any issues with how they fit?

What I have seen so far is that the tend to have to be spacered out so the cone doesnt hit the lid because of how far they move in and out. Any advice?

When i complete I will add pictures so this question wont be asked again. I cooked my Rockford Fasgates on the trip home from stugis and I wanted a speaker that could handle the power the Hawg Wired Amp throws at it.

Correct they will require a spacer, I read it on another forum. I have the HCX 690's but haven't put them in the lids yet.

Yeah i had to make spacers for the hcx 690's. I had them in the lids but have moved them inside the bags. I felt like it was a waste to have in the lids when i knew they were much more mid-bass capable. Put some HCX165's in the lids instead; of course with some modified spacers to mount the 6.5 vs the 6x9... I think my system bangs...

HSK 165 XL's in fairing
HCX 165's in lids
HCX 690's in bags

i just sanded the opening up to allow the speaker to mount with some clearance around the the speaker and mounted it. granted this way you wont be able to use the black speaker mesh.

That would work too... I had my grilles painted to match so it wasn't an option for me...

you still use the metal ones, just not the fabric that you're suppose to glue down on the flat surface

I'm not using Hertz speakers, but Polk MM691's. The tweeter pod(for lack of a better word) sticks up about a 1/2" from the mounting base of the speaker. Is this similar to the Hertz's? I wanted to use the fabric, so I went to a local Ace Hardware and got some plastic spacers that go on the bolt to drop the speakers in the bag enough to use the fabric. I think it cost me like $2.00. Not sure if this is what you're lookng for, but one way to lower the speaker.

ya the hertz tweeter stick up some like the polks

doing that causes the front and rear now to not be sealed from each other, reducing sound quality.
