Do a search, there are plenty of threads on it including parts needed.

if you buy the kit ($821 at LSHD) it comes with the harness required for install. It cost me $200 for paint and did it myself in less than an hour. You'll need to put it on a floor jack to have enough clearance to roll the fender off and install the new one. It's plug and play.

Looking at the part, it fits 09 and newer touring bikes except the Road King Classic. Anyone know why that is?

Because of the shape of the rear of the saddlebags. If you put hard bags on, you could probably do it.

That's what I was hoping was the reason. Thanks.

Should be able to recoup some of your expense by selling the whole stock fender assembly. They are pulling between $400-$600 on ebay depending on the color. That would make final cost for the conversion pretty reasonable.
