do yourself a favor and get the yaffe plate mount also. gets rid of that clunky looking plate and tag light

why the medallion below the plate? just for looks or is it covering something up? is there a hole in the fender that the Yaffe fender doesn't cover?

Not so much a "hole" as an "indentation". There is a bolt on the inside of the fender holding the tri-bar light assembly to the fender. The indentation is where that bolt is.
