40-42 mpg for single riding on the highway is pretty normal for touring bikes.

My 07 if I'm by myself about 35 or less with few friends it behaves very well and gives me 40 plus according to Harley odometer which is about 5% incorrect and that is the case with almost all HD speedometers it will show 4 to 5 miles faster then actual speed when cruising at 75 or so.Took a trip to AZ on the bike it showed 556 miles took the same trip same route on my wife's Mercedes showed 531 miles go figure.

I wish I lived in a place where I could ride 80 miles a hour and not worry lucky you. Just buy gas and focus on something else for your new bike. Congrats and be careful

I hear 'ya! I grew up in 55MPH Seattle! The mid- south highways roll along at 75 minimum for the trucks and I can do 90 for extended periods when I feel like concentrating hard. :-)

My 103 rocks on my 2012 RG. I don't even calculate the mileage. Whatever it is, it's better than my Dodge Ram 360 at 13 MPG. Let the good times roll and don't sweat the small stuff.

Well my rubber mount when it was stage one got around 35mpg,fuel pak is total garbage. A 96 should get better than that 1 up.
So I ditched the fuel pak, went 106 with t6-6 cams,an S&S breather and a propipe and now my city mileage varies greatly and I measure city riding in smiles per gallon.
And with a pcv I get 50+mpg. Been 12000 miles since I did the swap and I fall in love with my bike every time I start it

Over here our speed limits are lower. Sitting on your 65-70 mph and not riding aggressively, I get around 49mpg cruizing. Stock motor, always have a very clean air filter and Xeid's fitted (14:1 AFR), plus 40 rear 38 front tire pressure, plus stock mufflers with some baffles removed however, if I give it some stick thru the mountains it gulps it down, to around 42mpg. It's all in the wrist...........

48 - 52? BS! Maybe downhill with a tail wind.
