2010 EG Ultra classic, CB Radio
#11
The radio, CB, & Intercom all have their own volume settings. Easy way is to turn the squelch down all the way, then adjust the CB volume (all you will probably hear is static). The CB volume can only be adjusted when the CB is active (not when you are hearing the am/fm radio. Get your manual out or go to Harley's website and read the manual there.

What year is your bike?
The radio has to be ON, the CB has to be ON. The radio will 'mute' when the CB is receiving/transmitting.
If your bike is a pre 2014 then you also have a 'Speaker' switch on the dash panel. the switch has 3 positions. 1 - Radio & CB thru speakers; 2 - Radio thru speakers, CB thru headset; 3 - Radio & CB thru headset
If you press the PTT switch that should "light' the CB icon on the radio and also mute the radio while the switch is pressed. If you turn the squelch all the way down, the CB usually starts receiving all static. The CB icon will light on the radio, and the AM/FM radio should mute. When the CB icon is lit, the CB is active and you can adjust the CB volume setting and channel.

They are handy for group rides. When I am leading or sweeping the ride, i use the handset so i can communicate. If i am in the middle of the pack, I will just listen. I have a bluetooth headset (Sena) I use to communicate with my wife on her own bike, so i couldn't do both headsets.
Then someone showed me that I can drop the half helmet headset around my neck and angle the mike up and it works well too. I will try that on our next group ride.
