Sucks to lose a saddlebag. I had one blow off a BMW once. I heard something hit the ground and then watched it roll into a ditch at roadside. The bag was trashed, but at least I didn't lose the contents.

Yeah, that sucks. Ditched the Dzus fasteners on mine 1st week and went with unuts and bolts. Takes a minute longer to get them off but gives me some peace of mind.

for $8 at hardware store 4 "speed nuts"* and 4 wing screws** will replace stock hardware.

or you can buy hardware from Brutus for 20~25 bucks or what ever they charge

* SMS type U 5/16-18 thread crown bolt #43228

** 5/16-18 thread X 1" crown bolt #66808

a couple of rubber fender washers too, or reuse the stock ones
Just replaced them on my SG because of the spreading pin problem HD wants $ 8.50 for a new one or go buy 4 bolts & 4 U-nuts for less than $ 4.00 @ the hardware store.

Second time? Odds are you aren't fastening them correctly. There is a distinct snap when the pine is locked in correctly. I'm not saying you shouldn't go to other methods to secure your bags, in fact I think that would be advisable for folks who struggle with the Harley pins.

I went with the Brukus kit and glad I did. Stealing hard bags is real easy with a flathead screwdriver.......put a bolt where the quick release windshield spring is located....those are up for grabs in 5seconds also!

That does suck. Did you lose much stuff? I had one fly open on a 70 mph hwy. I didn't notice it for several miles, but only lost USB stick with some pics, luckily...or should I say amazingly. The bag did have some clothing, but somehow managed to stay in.
