Trade Ultra Limited for a Softail Heritage?
I was looking at a thread like this in the softail forum and everyone was certainly for it but I wanted to see what the touring folks have to say about it.
I've got a wide glide for around town and a 2010 Limited for 2up and trips. The problem is I normally only take one trip a year (< 2000 miles) and my wife really doesn't ride with me much (< 3 times a year and never on a trip) and the Limited payments are so expensive. I was thinking about trading both bikes in on a new Softail Heritage. I love the way they look. I would miss the cruise control but am around town most of the time on the WG without cruise now anyway.
Opinions??? Anyone else done this and regretted it?
Thanks.

Never personally owned anything but Touring Harleys myself... but going by what a couple of my friends have done/said...
One.. had an Ultra and decided he wanted something else... bought a Softail.... about 3 months later he traded it for a Road King.. said he felt every thing on it.. all the road and engine vibrations.
another buddy had a Softail and traded for a Road Glide.... he says the difference (less) in vibration going down the road is quite noticeable.

The Heritage is a great bike! I had one for two years and loved it, but the ride and handling isn't as comfortable as the touring bikes. Plus no cruise control on it is a huge loss if you put a lot of hwy miles on your bikes. JMO, but I'd go to the dealer and explain the situation. Then test ride a Heritage, RK, RG, and SG. Narrow it down to the two you like best (unless one REALLY calls you) and sit down to negotiate. Get your numbers and then shop other dealers for the best deal. Once you've gotten the bottom dollar, sleep on it. After that, I think you'll know what's best for you.
Good luck!

I do agree that if you basically ride single and only take one long trip a year, the Heritage would be a good fit. Just gotta get used to that vibration.

1st off I doubt if your wife will be going on a 2,000 mile road trip on a Heritage after she's ridden on a Limited. (not twice anyay)
Sell the Wide Glide and put that money down on your Limited.
You could take $600 of it and make the Tour Pak detachable.
3 bolts take the Lowers off each side.
Take off Street Glide seat and you have two bikes.
