Best year: 1936 Arguably, the most beautiful bikes ever built.

Tall final gearing
Because of the 5 gal tank and frame perfect street cruiser

Best recent engine year - -2002 with the forged cranks and last year for timkens.

Best Frame year - 2009 touring frame introduction -- but other 09 issues such as the compensator and radio vibration induced damage from the handlebar fasteners drag it down somewhat....

FYI, change this to a "poll" and you can tally the results vs. scrolling thru pages of replies...JMO.

06, not because they are perfect but because it seems to be the last year that bikes rolled out without some problem from the factory...but like everyone else, I am biased too

It was the 1903, without that one the rest wold not have evolved. 'Nuff said!
