The '04 is a keeper. Use the money you won't be spending on a bike payment to further accessorize the '04.
My riding buddy had a one-of-a-kind 06 EG Standard and traded for a dime-a-dozen black '12 Ultra. He likes the new bike well enough but is constantly telling me that the old one stood out in a crowd. The new one doesn't.

I agree with Texas Fat Boy; you should at least check out the cost to trade difference. For one thing, you might find out that the trade difference is a lot more than the $7k you're hoping for. Your bike has pretty low miles for the model year, and you could certainly install a 6-speed transmission for no where near the trade cost.

you have a good bike with real low miles I would keep it , if it was high miles or alot older or something it might be different , as some have said on here the new frames are supposed to be nice but never been on one so mine is just fine at 50,000 miles

I have an '03 RK (chrome front end, tour pack, cruise, Mustang seat, Stage I, SE exhaust, 18K miles) and have toyed with the idea of going to a Limited. I can afford the payments, but was suprised what my bike is for trade-in, about $9K, 10.5K retail. Then I think of what I need to do to the new one, ehaust, chrome front end, trim rings on the lights etc. I really like the RK, ride solo, so I think that the money I would use for a down I will use on the RK and do a 95-97 kit and maybe a 6 speed. My 2 cents.

Wouldn't be worth it to me. Much as I'd like the 6 gallon tank and ABS, every time I think of upgrading my low (but not as low as yours) mile '00 FLHT I always end up figuring I'd rather add a 3rd (used) bike instead

If you ride aggressively you will really appreciate the new frame, it is amazingly better for the aggressive rider.

ABS is nice if you ever need it.

With that said, the motor in your 04 is MUCH better (in my opinion) and it would be less expensive to put a 6 speed in your 04 if that is all you are really after.

About the time we get a bike where we like it, we start to think about trading and that's when we take a beating. I believe you can get a better deal as there are a lot bikes out there now for sale. good luck

IMO if your going to drop that much coin may as well get a left over 2012 and get a better finance rate in the deal.
