Default tw5 or tw6 cams?

I am running 95"se perf heads, flat tops and 258 cams. I am going to change cams. Anyone running this combo with tw5 or tw6 cams?

I had your exact same setup on my 03 Fatboy with Woods TW5-G cams. I liked them. They were torque monsters to be sure. They weren't excessively loud as some Woods cams tend to be. I admit to liking the gear whine sound though. It doesn't seem to bother most however. I was getting 104 ft/lb and 101 HP with your setup and a carbed bike. About 88ft/lb was between 1800-2200 RPM...could low end torque cam. That said, I thought I'd never go with HD cams, but have the SE 203's on my 95" Flattops and stock heads Street Glide, and even though the dyno give's me 78 and 86, for some reason, I enjoy the bike better and like the feel of the cams. The TW5's could be a little peaky.

TW6G is a really good low end torque cam for stock heads, it does run out a little early. TW5G will give you more on the low end and holds up pretty good on top, the 5 does require SE heads as it's a higher lift cam.

I could not find the TW5 on the Woods website, but I think it is a smaller cam than the TW6. As far as runing out early....uhhhmm...NOPE! The TW6 will pull to 7500 RPM's if your springs will stand it. I have used the TW6 in 2 different bikes now, and absolutely love it. They were awesome in a Stage 1 88" and in my mild 95" build. They are a good alternative to the Andrews 26 as they pull harder in the mid and top. The 26's tend to get short winded over 4,000 rpm's. I must aggree though, don't waste any money on the HD cams.

If I recall right, I think the TW6 is a 510 or so lift and the TW5 is like a 570 lift thus the TW5 requires the SE heads, I could be back-assward on the numbers haven't looked at them in some time.

HarleyPaw, You are correct on the lift numbers, I ran the TW5G's in my 95" and made really good numbers, HP 102 and TQ 115. You are also correct in that the 5's need the HTCC heads to handle the lift. Would not hesitate to run them again.

No experience with the 6's though, but a buddy runs em and has no complaints

The biggest improvment you could do would be to get rid of those heads. They have to large of ports for most applications and actually hurt performance. I had them on my motor and got rid of them and gained power. As far as cams go I am not familar with the Woods grinds.

The TW-5 was made for that combo but the S&S 570 is also a very popular cam with those heads. I suspect you'd get much more low end torque with the TW-5.I run the TW-6 with slightly modified stock heads and love the cam.
