Any reason to go from 103 to 107?
Hey out there,
I've been on the forum and am/was considering upgrading my 2012 FLHX to a Fuel Moto 107. However, after some careful review of the Dyno sheets I dont see any reason to spend the $ on bigger jugs for 4-6 hp/tq. Seems like I'd be about as well off upgrading the cams, heads and TB and saving the $400-600 for something else. Looking for opinions. SOme input from Jamie at Fuel Moto would be great.
I liked the idea the performance, reliability and fuel mileage of Fuel Moto's set up. But after looking closely at the numbers I cant see spending the $ on that kit. Could I upgrade everything but the jugs and when my low end needed the work split the case and go bigger while retaining the previous parts?? How much reliability is lost in a 113 or 117? Gas mileage? Reputable builder for the larger engines in the midwest??

Your assessment is pretty much the same as mine. I think cams, head work, exhaust, air cleaner, and a good tune would be a better option dollar for dollar in my opinion over a 107. Fuel Moto is close to you though and Im sure they would be happy to set you up whatever you decide to do whether it be a 107 or just opening up your 103 to breathe easier.

I have a 103 FLHP - did a stage 1.
I just had my '09 Ultra 96" done at FM to a 107".
Can't really tell a difference - EXCEPT - where do you want the bike to pull in the RPM range.
My 103" had a lot of pull/torque in the lower range RPM's perfect cause it is my tootin round town bike, my 107" on my Ultra has more at the higher range due to the TW555 Cams which I like for being on the HWY.

If you're already dealing with Frank (Drago's Bike Works) and bought a Dragula from him, I'd suggest calling him up and asking him about some head work and cams. He won't steer you wrong and stands behind his work 100%. He certainly knows how to make power, no doubt about it.

I was also thinking the same thing, does it make $ense to spend the cash to go from a 103 to one of the 107 kits? My 07 had the BB kit (from 96 to 103) with crank, cams, ported heads and exhaust done. Will be picking up a 2012 RG soon, already has the 103 in it (anyone know what cams the MOCO puts in the stock 103?). I was thinking I would be taking it to see Frank at Drago's to do a 107 kit this winter. It would be a good idea to do a little thinking about having him hop up the 103 with power goodies and save a little coin....
