Junk HD Mirrors - Can they be returned/exchanged?
About a week or so ago I ordered a pair of fairing mounted mirrors and LED covers. As I stated in another post not only am I extremely disapponted in the way they fit due to the poorly designed template, today I wanted to review my installation. According to the instructions, they are to be torqued to between 20 - 30 ft-lbs. I opted for the lower setting (20 ft-lbs) as they are only plastic. Long before I reached 20 ft-lbs, the stud snapped off on the right hand mirror. I have removed them both leaving crappy looking holes in my inner fairing. What are my options as far as an exchange or a return? Is it up to the dealership from which I purchased them? I have everything that was included except the packaging which I assumed I wouldn't need and pitched. I do have my invoice.

That explains why I'm not a mechanic. If anyone needs a left hand mirror let me know.
*** Update *** My replacement mirrors arrived today. After careful consideration, I decided to move them outward just a tad. This would solve the issue of them hitting the contour of the speaker, provide a little bit better view and the unused holes would be covered. I'll try to explain. On the initial installation, you have two holes - One is 7/32" and the other 13/32". Using the spacer as a template, I drilled the original smaller hole out to 13/32" so that it became the hole for the mounting stud and drilled a new 7/32" hole. The fit IMO is much better than the one that results from using the POS template that comes with the mirrors. Why hasn't HD corrected the relatively minor error with their template?
This has been bugging me since the first version of the project was completed. With this revision, I am a happy guy again. Hope this helps.
