Default 95" or 98", is it really worth it?

With everything else being equal, is it really worth the extra $500 for the 98" kit over a 95" kit?

My 98" worked out well, but Doug @ HQ will explain that you can make almost as much power with a properly matched and tuned 95".

It really just depends on what ya want....

What I want?

I want all of the same things that you did and I want my dyno run to match yours.

Phil,
I realize that one "should" make a little more with a 98" kit. But like you said, if a 95" kit is close to what a 98" makes then is 5-10 hp really worth the extra cost? My opinion is no but then again my experience is with building cars not bikes.

That's easy! I have the recipie and will gladly share it.

Doug told another friend of mine that is considering a similar build that the same config in a 95" should make somewhere close to 105HP/110TQ. In fact, "if" you bump the compression up to 10.25ish:1 (vs. 10:1), you just might make about the same w/a 95"!

Just call and talk to him or shoot him a msg at his yahoo group: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/HQTechline/. He answers messages here daily.

Would I have any issues with pinging with 10:25:1? Would I need comp releases. I don't have any issues finding 93 octane around here. Comp releases don't both me either. I just want it to run good.

Run good? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! how 'bout CRAP your britches! hahahhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you would want compression releases. Properly configured and built (using HQ's tuning tips & tricks) there should be NO pining problems.
