Default K&N air filter replacement

I bought a K&N air filter today for my 03 Ultra Classic. When I went to install it I noticed theirs no place to screw the stock cover back on. Every sight I go to tells me to get the HD-1499 but theirs now where to put my cover back on. Any help would be greatly apreciated. I thought I would just have to take old off put new on but not the case here. You have to take the whole back plate off it looks like.

You did take the bracket off the stock air filter to install on the K&N filter, yes?

Filter should have come with instructions - it is a direct replacement and a no brainer to put it. Few bolts and you are done. Make sure you hook up the hose when you put it back together.
