Default Leg and Foot Comfort

Hey gang, I'm trying to find the perfect set-up for most riding comfort. What I'm thinking of is either: (i) extending the footboards. But if I do that, I think I also must extend the brake levers as well as the shift levers. My second option is: (ii) highway pegs. I just want to be comfortable and look cool while doing it.

For the first option, I think I have to do all three to extend just 1 inch. It kind of seems logical to go with number ii.

By the way, I'm 5'11, 178lbs. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not a big guy)

What do you all think?

Why don't you just buy a seat that will move you back an inch or two. I bought a Hammock seat which accomplished that and it made a big increase in leg and foot comfort.

you know what, I'm gonna go on the record and say that the stock seat is extremely comfortable. I love it. My old ride was a Yamaha Roadstar and I had about 3 -4 seats for it. None of them made me happy.

At the stealership, I sat on a lower, solo seat. It wasn't as comfortable as teh stock SG seat.

I'm gonna upgrade a lot of parts on my SG but not the seat. It's the sweetest seat ever. But then again, I don't have much *** back there so the stock seat fits me fine.

What part of keeping the stock seat did you not understand?

I'm in the same boat, thinking of going with the highway pegs.

cheers

2 things you can do.

1) get the Kuryakyn http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/83/Relocator-Brackets $100
(I personally would not buy anything from Kuryakyn)

2) or the Harley http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US $80

I did "# 2" on mine.....and I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.
You will not need to move any of the levers if you also move the floorboards out 1" with http://www.harleygoodies.net/ $47
Make sure you get the 1" version. Pingle makes an 1 1/4" one for $80
It will get your feet out from under the shifter and brake pedal.

I highly recomend the Harley Goodies even if you don't move the boards forward.

Crash bar and highway pegs is all you are going to need. Get a used crashbar and pegs and you will be riding much more comfortable for less than $100.

I didn't think I would like the crashbar with highway pegs. I just put it on Monday. Set up and took a quick spin. Rode more on Tues, and made my final adjustments tonight. I now have 4 positions for my feet & legs.

What a difference it makes. With both feet on the floorboards, after about an hour, I would feel my right knee starting to ache. Now, when I see a long straight shot, I stretch out.

Highway pegs period. Best thing you can put on your bike for long range comfort. Good for your feet, good for your knees, good for your back. Changing my feet position every so often is the only way I can ride all day long in comfort.

I extended my floorboards and I really can't tell much difference. Many on this forum said it made a big difference but I don't feel it. Could be because I have size 13 feet.

+1 on all this. Did the same with my SG. Saw no difference with extended boards but highway pegs on the crashbar makes it an all day rider in comfort.
