My wife helped me. I would have never attempted installing the new hinges alone....just too much of a chance of dropping the lid and really screwing something up. Not saying it can't be done alone, but that's certainly not optimal in my opinion.

the wife helped me too with the hinges it is not a one man job but they are worth it lok so muchbetter and way stronger, makes you stand back and wonder "why didn't they do this at the factory, oh wait I know, $50"

Those are the same latches that I had on my 92 Ultra that I had trouble with. Broke a couple and they would always get loose. I now have a 06 Ultra and I just had to order the black latches.

mine were fine untill I forgot to latch them and hit a bump on I80 when the lid went up and came back down it broke the latches

When I had my SG I would read post like this and think is this all these guys have to complain about? Now I find my self being very carefull opening and closing my tourpak because the hinges have a soft feel. I guess this will be an upgrade in my future.

After seeing that pic I'm not sure I like them enough to change. They look kind of odd,but I wonder if they latch easier?

No, the forward latch has a recess that covers the stock lock.
