Default I am sick/ bad news from the dealership

I brought my bike into the dealership yesterday because of a "clicking" sound I only hear when I first start the bike up COLD. When warm I don't hear it. Dropped it off at 9AM, around 3PM got a call that they are still looking into it but it could be a bad lifter or could be a bad fly wheel where the motor will have to come out and split open...... I am covered so it isn't going to cost anything but I am already starting to think what could go wrong and in what condition I am going to get the bike back in. Right now I have NO leaks at all. Time will tell. I am really starting to question my support for Harley.

Be Safe JIM

Sometimes you're just better off riding it till it flies apart.

I put 70,000 miles on a Harley that "click- click- click" on cold start up. Thought it was normal ;-)

Sounds like a symptom of the dreaded compensator-bolt, backing off from torque, alowing the splined compensator sprocket assembly to hammer back-forth! Good Luck hope you caught it in time before crankshaft spline damage. There is a business in Dallas / Fort Worth that makes a special lock plate to prevent this.http://www.automotivemachine.com/ind...emid=53#clbolt

damn dude, relax some. i hate to break it to you, but these things are mechanical, built by humans. sometimes things go wrong. they get fixed and you move on. you got one problem here, not even diagnosed yet, and you're ready to jump ship.

and before you say it's easy to talk when you don't have anything wrong, i just got my bike back from having the inner primary bearing replaced. for the second time. first time at 19000 miles, this time at 29000. doesn't make me want to get rid of her though.

If it is covered, and you do not like the work. Take it back. Make them fix it until it is right. Still I would not worry about it until there is an issue. It should just be returned to you in better than new shape.
