Default Have You Had Your Harley Repainted?

Has anyone had their bike repainted?

I have an Silver 07 Road King Classic that still looks very nice (see video below), but I'm growing a little tired of the same look. I'd like to get a custom paint job to give my bike a different look. I'm looking to do this during the Winter so I don't have to worry about down time.

I'd like to know if you have had your bike repainted what you paid for your paint job, and if any of you took your tank, fenders and side panels off to save money? Below is a video of what my bike looks like now.

My buddy had his SG painted, and it cost him $2600. That was with him removing all the tins. It would have cost more had the shop had to do the extra labor.

Been thinking about it, but want to save the original tins. It'll drive up the cost, but I don't want to get rid of the originals.

Since I only buy used bikes I usually end up painting them. Do it myself and save a ton of money!

Usually if you remove the tins it will save a few hundred bucks.

cheers

I collected a complete set of perfect used tins with the base color I wanted then had the scallops added and cleared. I then swapped out the tins and sold my old set. Cost about nine hundred just for the paintwork.

Yep. Got sick of all that copper and when I did bags and fender I painted the whole bike. Had about $200 in materials and a painter buddy that owed me a favor. Is not that hard to remove the tins. When you reassemble after paint it helps to have a friend or 2 around to lend a hand

Default Custom paint

Yes. My SG is an 07. Originally black cherry. I tired of it too. Got it painted in Oct 2010.

Maybe just do some ghost/accent flames on it and see how you like that?

I've been thinkin' about that. Dan Kite is about due to come out here to the rally where I live close to.. so I am considering it, but I am ok with it too as is, but it is a bit mono, which in my mind is better than a two/tone any day.

I do my own paint too. Costs a little over $100.00 for 5 coats of base, 10 coats of clear. Painted my Springer yearly I think, I tire quick of the same color.
