road king wind

I have been hit in the face with stuff, but MOST of it hits the shield. But as I said before, the wind noise baffling is the biggest reason to use one.

Well Joe you have a point, but the windshield is below your face. That's why I hardly ever clean mine.
You still get wind in your face with shield, but 90% of insects hit shield, the comfort level is much higher and you don't go deaf. The wind noise muffling is the ticket for me.

Actually I think I'd enjoy something like a Road Glide type fairing with a windscreen slightly higher than the stock toenail the best.
I enjoy the wind in my face, and that's why I went with a FatBoy. However, when I take longer rides with friend on touring bikes and there are hours spent on highways, I get fatigued. People say that it's the limited suspension, etc., but it's from the wind hitting my upper torso. I find myself holding on hard to combat the wind at highway speed, and eventually I can feel strain in my shoulders. The wind in my face doesn't bother me, though if I could lessen it by about a third that would be great too.

Let's see now....................you have a motor that takes a windshield, you don't like all that wind that comes when you don't have a windshield........................................ .... Did you drop out of day care? All that other crap, deflectors and whatnot, looks like ****. A shield will keep things like birds, hornets, rocks, and other flying crap out of your face, you'll be more relaxed in the saddle for longer periods, less fatigue on long runs, less hearing damage,on and on.

I have not ridden without a windshield on my Road King since I put the LRS on it. Yesterday was a super hot day and a buddy and I set out for a 500 mile trip. I decided to ditch the shield and boy was I sorry. Being pelted with dirt, stones, bit in the shoulder by a bee, the wind killing my ears. Shield is back on and not coming off!!!! Look in the classifieds here, craigslist, ebay for a deal. I do however highly recommend a LRS shield.
