Just traded in the night Train and picked up a 2012 RG Custom. This bike glides down the road. I'm not saying I like it, but I put 600 miles on it in two afternoons. It is comfortable, the 103 accelerates smoothly, and above all you don't see 50 at every bike nite.

I will say the first thing I did when I picked it up was put a 12" HD windsplitter windshield on it. Matter of fact they did it right on the showroom floor. The windshield works good for me. I can still feel the wind in what little hair I have left and it directs the bugs over my head. I am going to try the air deflectors that come on the CVO model next and see how they work.

Ride the Road Glide and make up your own mind.

Nah, you don't want a RG. It just dilutes the special factor and soon they will be as common as the Street Glide.

My advice, like several others is ask to take a batwing and a RG out for a 50 mile test ride. Then decide. That is what I did

I just traded my Softail in on one and that has been the best decision I have made. Hands down.

I just turned 20,000 miles on my 2011 RGU and prior to that I put over 80,000 miles on my 2004 EGC and well over 100,000 miles on work RKP's thru 2008 and if I had to do it all over again when I bought my RGU I would have bought a ElectraGlide Ultra. between the three they are very similar handling wise but I perfer the batwing to ride behind vs the RK windshield and the shark nose. I certainly don't hate the shark nose but I just perfer the batwing. I am 5'9" I can see why taller folks like the rg tho.

I've never ridden one. How do they ride and is the fixed faring hard to get used to?[/quote]

Turn left, turn right, turn off the radio - You are good to go...

I wouldn't recommend buying a Road Glide without taking it for a test ride first, you may not like it.

Been ridin my "Tourglide" oh I mean RG? since 85, love it still!. But was wanting a change, so I was bidding on a 95 FLH anniversary model on Ebay. The most beautiful burgendy/black with everything on it. Was in the lead for several days, then they pulled it off & sold privately, what BS. But I was having second thoughts about giving up on the old gal after 26 yrs. I'm glad I did'nt get the batwing style. After finding this site & the Roadglide forum also it has rejubinated me as far as keeping mine & just totally repainting her. I would like to update my fairing, will the new style headlights, plastic etc fit the old fairing?. The dealer says no, because of the tilt angle. Thanks for any help

Yep, I did. As a matter of fact, it was the first HD I'd ever sat on.
Ordered it end of Feb and it arrived first of May.... jumped on and rode home.

55k miles later I'm still smiling....
