A real slimy feeling from LI NY dealer

Well I’m getting anxious to see a Street Glide in person so I called Twin Cities HD in Lakeville. They have a black SG on the floor with security and he told me the price was MSRP. I asked what they charged for set up and such and he said it’s all in the $18,990 price we are asking. Now I didn’t ask if it had EFI but I’m assuming it did so with freight, EFI and security that’s a $375 setup charge. Not bad for a new model that just hit the floor I guess. So maybe TC HD is offering better prices now too. I’ll talk to all of the metro dealerships this winter when it gets closer to spring.
$17,795 Vivid Black
$225 EFI
$275 Security
$320 Freight
$375 Setup
$18,990 Total

screamn_eagle, Don't know if I would want to post that or not. I agree with Skip, you can usually get a deal on a good used bike, mine was. The dealers do what they want to, some good, some bad, I say if you can find a good one you've done good and hope that you don't have to move.

RE: A real slimy feeling from LI NY dealer
I posted on another thread that I had seen two of these Streetglides last week on vacation. Since then I have seen another one. Harley Davidson of Charleston West Virginia had a Colbolt Blue for 19,800 out the door. Indy West had one with about 250.00 worth of accessories on it for 23,900 plus set up out the door and today my home dealer (Legacy Harley Davidson-Effingham,IL) had two (Black and Black Cherry) for about the same as the West Virginia shop.
I really love this bike. Legacy was in the process of selling the black one when I was leaving today. Most of the dealers I've been in this week have already sold a couple.

Here is a dialogue I had via e-mail with Larry Gilbert, a Las Vegas H-D dealer quoted verbatum without comment:

Larry,
What accessories are included to make it $3,000.00 over MSRP?
Regards,
Lee Mick
Lee,
Though some of our bikes do have accessories if they are not pre-sold, we
are a fair market value dealer and only sell MSRP to military, firefighters, and
police.

RE: A real slimy feeling from LI NY dealer
Did a little shopping last week. I went to 2 dealers about 50 miles from each other in central Indiana. They each had a black SG on the floor (sweet bike) and each would sell it for MSRP + setup. The west dealer was $300 for setup and the east dealer was $275. The east dealer would discount all add-ons 15% and the west dealer started at 10% but, ended up matching the 15%. Looks like you needn't pay more than list and can deal on the chrome.

Well I seen the bike on Saturday and I'm pretty sure this is my next bike. I was wrong in assuming the bike at Twin Cities HD has EFI for that price because it did not. So I guess they are charging $600 for setup and then the full $320 for freight. Well I think I've crossed them off my list for good this time. The SG they had on the floor wasn't setup at all either. There was plastic still stuck to it and there wasn't even a windshield on it yet. It looked like they rolled it right out of the crate onto the showroom floor. These guys must really think a lot of themselves if they think they can sell a bike for $19k and just put it out on the floor in pieces. The antenna was stuffed horizontal behind the left hard bag and the tires where covered with goop that I assume the MoCo gets on them when mounting the tires. All in all this dealership is NOT impressive.

I did however stop in to the St. Paul Harley on Sat.. And they had ZERO 2006's on the floor.. They said that they should be on the floor sometime this week and to stop back in.. And they are going around MSRP..

TRIPPER.....unfortunatly, it's gonna be hard to get any kind of deal out of Las Vegas HD. They have people that will pay whatever they ask, everyday. Because LV is so remote, they really have the area sewed up. I don't know if the Henderson dealership is any better.
I used to manage the Kawasaki/Honda dealership out on Rancho, and was offered the sales manager position at LV HD at one point. We had our meetings, and I came away definetly not wanting to work for those guys. Call me crazy, but I just can't rip people off day in and day out. Good luck.

NFE, FYI, I had a fantastic experiance with ST. Paul Harley two years ago. They fixed my bike at 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon, on July 3rd. Everyone else was closed for the holiday on Sunday and Monday, and they got me going. It's my olny experiance with them since I live about 1,200 miles away, but I thought I would tell you.
